Counselling can support and help you work through a problem or emotional difficulty you are experiencing. Maybe there are unresolved issues which are hindering you from being the person you could be. Counselling can give you the insights, understanding and motivation to make the changes needed to lead a more fulfilling life.

There are many different reasons why you might seek counselling. You may struggle with a specific issue or with a challenging life situation, for example: stress, anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, addiction, relationship issues, abuse, bereavement, chronic pain, redundancy, terminal illness etc. Or, you may experience a more general feeling of dissatisfaction with life and not even know why you feel the way you do.

I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) which is accredited by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care. I practice within the guidelines of their Ethical Framework of Good Practice and Procedures for Professional Conduct. I have full professional liability insurance and a clear enhanced Criminal Record Bureau check.

I work from a humanistic, person centred framework but integrate elements from other therapeutic modalities, if and when useful, for example cognitive behavioural, solution focussed, creative and systemic ideas, body awareness and focusing.

I am a Certified Focusing Professional and Focusing Trainer (Focusing Institute New York) and use focusing in my work when appropriate. Focusing gives attention to our lived and felt experience, to the moment to moment unfolding living process. This focusing attention helps to access fresh meaning and direction and is about experiencing your ‘self’ more authentically.
